London Community Kitchen – your local foodbank

Find out how you can help those in need within your local community.

The Coronavirus crisis has left some local residents without an income, with a family to feed and bills to pay. While restrictions may start to lift, there are many who will have to scrape by long term as the economy pays the price for the country’s lockdown.

We’ve seen many support groups and charities start to help, and there are also local residents who are stepping up and taking action, volunteering to aid those in crisis. We heard about one such organisation who needs your help to support our local area and wanted to promote the great work they’re doing.

London Community Kitchen, based opposite Harrow Leisure Centre on Christchurch Avenue, is part of an umbrella group set up during the Covid-19 outbreak called ‘HelpHarrow’.

They are a foodbank/hub giving out packaged food parcels to other charities to distribute, as well as receiving donations to give directly to those in need. The initial response is to create a borough wide, co-ordinated approach to support residents who are unable to access support, advice or food supplies.

How can I get help?
On Friday afternoons, the foodbank is open to the public so those who need help can ensure they have enough food for themselves and their families.

How can I volunteer?
You can offer up food, monetary donations, or your time to the charity.

Donate quickly and easily over the internet, or visit the website or their Facebook page to learn more about how you can help. There’s a helpful chat feature if you have any questions.

Together, as a community, we can make a difference and help to fight the long-term effects of the virus. If you need more information about this charity, or where you can receive help, please get in touch.
